By Timothy Oostendarp Don't be fooled into thinking tea is not "manly." Even a man's health could depend on it. Here are five reasons why men should drink tea.
1. It is good for health. Let's face it: All kinds of health threats and stresses bombard men as they go about their daily lives. Tea, with it's many health enabling properties, helps to combat free-radicals and other age-generating toxins. Green tea, white tea and herbal teas are esecially helpful in combating the negative effects of our living environments.
2. Tea is romantic. See our RedUmbrella Tea blog post about following the one rule to ultimate romance! Men looking for or needing a little boost in the romance department can indulge in tea with their special lady.
3. Tea is about relationships. Men looking to connect with their wives or special lady need only to put on a pot of loose leaf blooming tea. As the tea steeps and unfurls to reveal a beautiful and tasty tea flower, it is a perfect time to engage in some one-on-one conversation. It's like the last thing men want to do is talk, but that's what a woman wants! Talk over tea.
4. Tea is cultural. That's right. Take a trip to China, or Formosa (Taiwan!) or Japan, or India, or some other near-Asian or Asian culture by simply indulging in tea. Tea is grown and harvested in some of the most romantic and exotic places in the world. You can explore these places with your palette and your mind.
5. Tea challenges what "manly" is. And that's manly! Sure, tell the guys on the baseball team you love tea. They'll chuckle. They'll needle you. And then they'll all wish that you don't discover they drink it too. Why? Well, it is not manly, right? Wrong. It is manly. Why? For all the reasons stated above! So don't worry about what someone else thinks and do what you want. Timothy Oostendarp is co-owner of RedUmbrella Tea, Canada's loose leaf tea company.
