Just what makes a great loose leaf glass teapot? You need to know before you waste your money.
The difference in buying the right glass teapot is about understanding what it can can do for you. Learn what the qualities of a good glass tea pot are and you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. You'll also be the proud owner of a smart decision. It's obvious here, and I've taken it for granted, but trust me, you want a loose leaf tea pot that is see-through glass. The see -through glass has a number of benefits. First, aesthetically speaking, watching loose leaf tea swirl and softly color the crystal clear water with its flavor and goodness is magical.
Second, as you watch this symphony of beauty and flavor unfold, you can see just how strong you would like the loose leaf tea to be.
Thirdly, if you happen to put a flowering tea bulb in the tea pot, then your glass teapot will become a frame for a beautiful and delicate landscape of nature and tea (click here to see more about blooming tea). Imagine putting loose tea in a glass tea pot and never actually seeing what is happening! As they say, once you go glass, you can never go back to that whatchamacallit stuff. Additionally, you want a tea pot that is big enough to address your appetite for tea. Oh—and your friends appetites too. It is beyond me why someone would buy a small two cup glass tea pot and not something larger. It is even more funny to me to see blooming tea pots sold in retail stores with only enough room to brew two cups. What is the point? Not only would you have to get up and down and up and down to put more water in the glass tea pot, having to do that will definitely lead to frustration and a waste of your money. After all, you'll give up using the tea pot because it takes too much effort to use. So you'll also probably trash the tea too. That will also have an adverse affect on your health. Tea is good for you. We should drink it. So go for a 4-5 cup or more teapot. If you buy less, you'll regret it later.
You also want a tea pot large enough to address the need to steep the tea. Imagine putting two tablespoons of loose leaf tea in a small two cup pot! Where is the room for expansion? Loose leaf tea expands considerably, so a small pot will only do you a disservice and frustrate you.
Think of dropping a sponge in a small tea pot. That's emblematic of loose leaf tea in a small glass tea pot. A larger glass teapot, meaning at least 4-5 cups, will only allow for this kind of free moving expansion. Also, this size of a glass tea pot allows for plenty of “breathing” space for the loose tea to seep its flavors into the life-giving translucent water.
If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Now that applies to our last tip for picking the perfect loose leaf glass tea pot. If you can't keep it on a burner or tea pot warmer, then it should not be in your kitchen. Imagine yourself having just finished making your pot of tea in your glass tea pot and then someone calls on the phone, and your away from the tea for about a half an hour. Guess what? It's now lukewarm. If you don't have the right kind of glass tea pot, all your effort went for naught. What frustration.
You want a glass see-through tea pot big enough for 4-5 or more glasses of loose leaf tea made from borosilicate glass. This kind of glass is the very best in the glass industry and will allow you to put the pot directly on a tea pot warmer or your stove element. Now that is painless convenience.
So before you decide to buy a glass tea pot, remember these points: a small glass tea pot, not made with borosilicate glass, which won't allow you to see the loose leaf tea steeping, will waste your money, diminish your pleasure in the tea making experience, perhaps even adversely affect your health, and improve your odds of wasting your money.
If you're in the market for a tea pot, get yourself a large glass borosilicate loose leaf tea pot. You'll be making a smart decision.
